Note: We strongly recommend that the “research papers” be used only to supplement your education and to support you in exam preparation. As a would-be lawyer, there is no substitute for studying Bare Acts, Case Laws, and Research Papers through and through.

Submission Guidelines

  • The research papers should be typed and not handwritten.
  • The research papers should be sent via Google Forms as a Doc or Docx file only. The submission should be the original work of the author(s). 
  • Lawctopus will upload only ‘Quality Research Papers’. Quality Research Paper contain a lot of inputs from the authors and are not a mere rehash of content taken from multiple places.
  • We highly encourage the use of tables, flow charts, and other creative structures to organize information/knowledge.
  • Research Papers should NOT be plagiarised. Of course, they can contain text sections taken from sections, judgments, or books. These should be cited, and no more than 10% of any specific ‘work’ can be copied verbatim. 
  • The title of the doc/file should state the name of the author and their college, year of study, and the subject’s name.

Formatting Guidelines

  • All research papers should contain a detailed ‘Table of Contents’ which mentions the topic, sub-headings, sub sub-headings, and page numbers. 
  • Font size and style of the body of the research paper: 12, Times New Roman with the line spacing at 1.5
  • The case laws mentioned in the paper should be bold + italicised. IndianKanoon or any other trusted, open-source links should be cited for caselaws.
  • Sections used should be boldened. IndianKanoon or any other trusted, open-source links should be cited for sections.
  • Footnotes and hyperlinks are encouraged and should be used uniformly.
  • Font size and style for Footnotes: 10, Times New Roman
  • Font size and style for Headings: 16 and bold, Times New Roman
  • Font size and style for sub-headings: 14 and bold, Times New Roman
  • Font size and style for sub-sub-headings: 12 and bold, Times New Roman

Submission Process

  • All submissions must be sent via the form attached at the end of this post.
  • Only research papers that meet Lawctopus’ selection criteria and formatting guidelines will be published on our platform. The published authors will be notified about their access to our free self-paced workshop.
