The police have arrested a 58-year-old man for allegedly raping his 19-year-old step-granddaughter for the past ten years. The accused threatened her with death if she ever shared the ordeal with anyone.
The Kurar police on Thursday have registered a case in the matter and arrested the accused. The complainant teenager recently told her parents that her step-grandfather had been sexually assaulting her since 2014.
According to police sources, the complainant told police that the accused step-grandfather, who resides in the neighbouring house, used to come to the house when she was alone. He would then sexually assault the girl at those times.
According to the complainant’s statement to the police, he sexually assaulted her repeatedly from 2014 and would physically assault her too. He had threatened the girl, saying that if she told anyone about it he would kill her, said a police officer.
The complainant teen was scared of his threat and never narrated her ordeal to anyone. But, recently she told her parents as she could not bear it anymore, a source said.
Based on her complaint the Kurar police on Thursday registered a case and launched a search for the accused person. He was finally nabbed from Virar, an officer said.
The police have booked him under sections 376 (2)(F)(N), 354, 354A, 323, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
