Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao is of the firm belief that enforced social distancing is the only way to combat this deadly virus. “We have expanded our facilities so that we are able to handle 60,000 COVID- 19 cases simultaneously all efforts of the government will, however, be futile if people do not cooperate,” he says. That’s why the Telangana government has been strictly enforcing the lockdown.

Among families, only one person is allowed to step out at a time, and that too in the mornings and only to buy essentials. Between 7 pm and 7 am, a curfew is in force with no inter- or intra-district movement except that of security and health authorities. KCR himself is following the lockdown norms. Though confined to Pragathi Bhavan, his office-cum-residence, he still holds extensive meetings. He has also become a bit more media-friendly, holding briefings at least twice a week (which are televised live).

Social distancing is adhered to on all occasions, be it official meetings, media briefings or public events like receiving donations to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
