Four members of a family, including a one-year-old girl, sustained injuries when a cooking gas cylinder exploded inside a house in the Gazi Mandai area of Lucknow city on Sunday afternoon.

The two-storey house collapsed due to the impact of the blast that is likely to have occurred due to a leakage in the gas cylinder, the police said.

The victims, identified as Jagdish Kashyap (65), his daughter-in-law Pinky Kashyap (38), granddaughter Vidisha Kashyap (1), and nephew Raj Kumar (52), are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Their condition is critical, doctors said.

According to the police, it was found during the initial investigation that Pinky Kashyap was preparing food when she noticed a gas pipe detachment, which then caught fire. Before the family could evacuate the house, the explosion occurred, resulting in the roof collapse on those inside.
