Contest between forces firing at Ram bhakts and those building Ayodhya temple: Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted on Sunday that this Lok Sabha election is a contest between the forces that ordered firing at Ram bhakts (during the Babri Masjid demolition) and the ones who constructed the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Addressing a rally in Mainpuri ahead of the third phase of polling, Shah also invoked the abrogation of Article 370 and the 2019 Pulwama attack that left 40 CRPF personnel dead.

“Before Narendra Modi became the PM, different governments of Congress, Samajwadi Party or the Bahujan Samaj Party at the Centre and the state sat over the issue of the Ram Temple. But in the last five years, it was ensured that the case was won and the temple was constructed after a groundbreaking ceremony.”

Targeting the SP over “giving a number of tickets to the family members” of party chief Akhilesh Yadav in the name of the welfare of the Yadav community, Shah questioned why they could not find any other Yadav for contesting the elections.

Taking a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the abrogation of Article 370, Shah said, “Rahul baba, who is a friend of Akhilesh Yadav, said when the Bill was being placed in Parliament that there would be bloodshed in the Valley, but nothing happened. Pakistan attacked India thinking there was the government of ‘Mauni baba Manmohan Singh’ in the country but instead it was the regime led by Narendra Modi that responded with a counter attack.”
