Apple announces new iPad Pro with M4 chip, starts from $999

Apple today announced the new iPad Pro powered by the M4 chipset. The tech giant’s fastest and most advanced tablet comes in two sizes – 11-inch and 13-inch. The new iPad Pro lineup also happens to be the company’s slimmest product to date, with the 11-inch iPad Pro just 5.1mm thick.

Apple says the new iPad Pro models are powered by the M4 chipset based on second generation 3nm process and packs 4 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores with next-generation ML accelerators. It also comes with a Neural Engine with  16 16-core design that helps with AI tasks like isolating a subject from their background in a video. The 10-core CPU is complimented by a 10-core GPU which the company claims offers 4x more performance compared to the Apple M2.

The new iPad Pro models come with an in-house developed display technology termed “tandem OLED”, which it calls Ultra Retina XDR display. These screens have a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits for both SDR and HDR content and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits, making the tablets usable under direct sunlight. The 11-inch iPad Pro starts from $99 whereas the 13-inch model can be purchased for as low as $1,299.
